There is little doubt that Star Wars: The Force Awakens helped diversify the Star Wars movie universe. By casting John Boyega and Daisy Ridley as its two main protagonists, it not only opened new story possibilities. Detractors aside, the movie’s inclusiveness means the franchise now has broader appeal to more people. There is always the opportunity to be more inclusive, though; for instance, by adding an openly gay character into the mix. According to The Force Awakens director J. J. Abrams, that just might happen, saying “Of course! When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course. I would love it. To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.” in a recent interview

  1. Another reason for me to hate JJ Abrams..   Isn't there enough going on in Star Wars with the whole good vs. evil, do we really need to have a full on gay love scene?  If this happens, then Hollywood has completely lost its mind, and I hope an earthquake swallows the entire place.  The love scenes killed Attack of the Clones.  I don't think adding a gay is going to make that any more palpable.  I heard X-Men 3 had a tranny.  But the guy didn't brag about it or show us his cock.
