For this year’s International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOTB) on May 17, the Fondation Émergence, a French-based organization, has created the “Pride Shield,” a targeted campaign that highlights the community’s challenges this year.

The Pride Shield is a Pride flag comprised of 193 individual flags—each representing every country around the world—that stands as a “symbol of unity to stop the violence.” In addition, the organization released a YouTube video to further carry the message of the flag’s significance.

The video shows a bullet ripping through various Pride flags as news voiceovers describe violent acts committed against queer people around the globe. In a powerful final image, the Pride Shield is shown as a resistance to the violence.
