At Broadway Backwards 2017, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Jay Armstrong Johnson came together in a giddy, delightful duet of “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” from The Sound of Music. The pair gleefully gallivanted across the stage as a confident Johnson wooed the naive, innocent Keenan-Bolger through a charmingly updated romp through the classic.

The 12th Annual Broadway Backwards on March, 13, 2017, where men sing songs intended for women and vice versa without changing pronouns, shattered fundraising records, bringing in an impressive $522,870 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City.

  1. So in case no one knows the backstory, I'm not completely sure but I think it is that Andrew wanted to go back into the club but Jay said no and then started singing about how he's too young and it's a scary world. Really cute! Also if this isn't the actual backstory can someone reply saying the real one cause this is just what I was able to make from it.

  2. This is so cute but does anyone at 2:47 notice Andrew is subtly flipping off Jay? Also, that kiss got him way more excited (😉)and happy than anything, it's adorable.

  3. My little gay heart just got bigger. :,)

  4. When you think too much and realize a gay "Sixteen going on Seventeen" wouldn't work because Rolf is fusshgcking nazi

  5. Andrew plays a very straight guy in Tuck Everlasting and I died when I saw him here… (he's also 17 in the play) I FUCKING DIED

  6. I genuinely get really annoyed at this video and it’s honestly amazing but every single time I have to have an inner debate on if Andrew naturally lands from the box to the ground a second after Jay or if it’s meant to be part of choreography

  7. Everyone else: this is so cool I love it!
Me in the corner: whispers gayyy…
