Some are calling for a boycott of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, following a crackdown on gay rights in Russia. The Nashville Predators are preparing for the upcoming season, but earlier we caught up with one player who’s also looking ahead to hitting the ice at the Winter Olympics. Nashville Predator and Swedish International Patrick Honrqvist traded his hockey stick for a golf club Friday for a charity golf tournament. The Winger played for Team Sweden in 2010 and hopes to make the team again for next year’s Olympics in Sochi, Russia.The Winter Games have drawn international criticism because of a recently-passed Russian law that bans public discussion of gay rights. Hornqvuist says he’s just focused on his training. President Obama met with GLBT groups during his visit to Russia. It’s a move Tennessee Equality Project Executive Director Chris Sanders applauds.
